Review of the book “A Time to Live”, by James Tablessi

Time to live

The editorial Books and Literature presents this new release that, personally, I have enjoyed from the first to the last page. And it is that Time to live, by the writer James Tablessi, will leave you with your mouth open due to its originality, its freshness and that special sensitivity that exudes each of its pages. An absolutely delicious story that you will not be able to forget, promise.

The year is 1429 and Garoa, like so many other young people, has made the decision to leave his native village to enlist in the army that King Charles III of Navarre is recruiting and training to defend himself against the Castilians. There he meets Sanduru, another young man recruited for the army with whom, from the beginning, he will feel a special affinity. Together they decide to embark on this new adventure, knowing that it will be difficult times for both of them, but with the conviction that, being together, everything will be fine.

The mark that each one leaves on the other will be indelible and, almost six hundred years later, the memory of that relationship that managed to cross the limits of friendship to become a beautiful romance still lingers in their worn-out hearts.

Time is all Garoa has on his hands. Time to live. Time to start again and again. Time to fall in love again. Time to miss and, above all, time to not forget Sanduru, her great love.

In a very different present for our protagonist, the echo of that love and its memories are still alive in the heart and mind of Garoa. But there is nothing he can do, just let himself go, convinced as he is that the passage of time will not blur those past experiences one bit.

Thus, the present brings new and unexpected adventures to which Garoa, with his expertise and with his letting go, he must face. His native land, Pamplona, Burgos, Milan… different scenarios that evoke, that make you dream, that always bring with them the memory, a past that is confused with the present again and again.

And meanwhile, a question always echoes in his heart: can the same love remain intact for centuries? The answer, readers, will be found in its pages, but let me tell you that this is a journey that is savored slowly, without rushing, with time (ah, time, the one that Garoa treasures in her hands).

Enter the pages of Time to live It is a trip without a return ticket, because it is impossible to return from this story. No, it settles in your heart little by little, it looks for its little space and, in the end, its characters and that immeasurable love become part of you. And how wonderful when this happens, right?

So, readers, I can only recommend this emotional story that tells us about the strength of love and immerses us in the most beautiful and tough story in which passion and love, as the main protagonists, break any space-time border.
