Synopsis:

Madrid, 1935. Cati is a young woman whose life happens between parties and gatherings in cafes, until tragedy hits her. While she searches for her place in the world, her meeting with a childhood friend and Manuel Bartolomé Cossío will mark her destiny. With the Pedagogical Missions, which took culture where it seemed impossible for it to reach, she will travel to a remote town and, staying in the humble Salazar house, Cati will begin a relationship with the members of the family: Paciana, a widow seasoned in revenge; her son, Fabián, nicknamed the Bat, and her brother, Jeremías, a cursed man, for whom she will feel an unexpected love. Her stay will open your eyes to another way of life, governed by the designs of the countryside and the seasons. But she will also be involved in an old debt of blood and hatred.

Author Bio:

Born in Madrid, she practiced as a lawyer and specialized in Intellectual Property. After winning the Villa Pozuelo de Alarcón Prize for Young People’s Novels in 2009 with The Man Who Got Dizzy with the Rotation of the Earth (2009), and after the publication of the novel The House of Impossible Loves (2010), he abandoned the legal profession to dedicate yourself fully to writing. In 2010 she won the prize for revelation writer awarded by the well-known literary blog Llegir en cas d’incendi for The House of Impossible Loves. This novel has been translated into fifteen languages ​​and published in twenty-two countries, including the United States, Italy, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Sweden, Israel and Mexico. She has published the novels El cielo en un inferno fits (2013) and Tierra de brumas (2015). In 2017 she was a finalist for the Planeta con Niebla Award in Tangier, which has been translated into Italian, Dutch, Polish and Chinese. Her previous novel is Rómpete, corazón (2019). With The Earth Under Your Feet he has won the 2024 Azorín Novel Prize. He has published the book of stories El Reloj del Mundo and participated in several anthologies: The Strangest Loves in the World, Under Two Flags, as well as other stories in different magazines, such as the cultural supplement of Corriere della Sera, La Lettura, the cultural magazine Zenda and the magazine Manera. For years she has also taught creative writing workshops.
