After becoming involved in the murder of Fred Hale, a journalist linked to a rival gang, Pinkie fears that his alibi will be discovered and will do whatever it takes to prevent it. He does not imagine that the stubborn Ida Arnold, a friend of the victim, will initiate an investigation on her behalf to clarify the facts.
Set in a city with two faces, that of the underworld and that of carefree vacationers, and populated by unforgettable characters, Brighton Rock is a fast-paced thriller, a modern classic with cinematographic imprints in which the themes that will be essential in the author’s work: the exploration of the intimate struggle between good and evil, the possibility of redemption and condemnation. Graham Greene (1904-1991) was one of the most important English writers of the entire 20th century. He is the author of an extensive literary work in which titles such as “The Power and the Glory” (1940), “The Reverse of the Plot” (1948; Libros del Asteroid, 2020), “The Third Man” (1950), stand out. “The Quiet American” (1955), “Our Man in Havana” (1958), “The Honorary Consul” (1973) and the extraordinary “The End of the Affair” (1951; Libros del Asteroid, 2019).
