Synopsis:

The female voice of the Basque noir returns stronger than ever with a new and disturbing case for inspectors Lur de las Heras and Maddi Blasco. A mysterious message sent to the Ertzaintza and a sudden disappearance in the border town of IrĂșn bring together officer Lur de las Heras and agent Maddi Blasco in an enigmatic and disturbing case. The missing person is Sua, a girl from Lur’s close circle, but whom she has not seen for years. Through the reconstruction of the days prior to her disappearance, Lur and Maddi find themselves involved in the young woman’s hidden world, a web of toxic relationships, fear, depression and addictions. The two women must not only discover what happened to Sua, but also try to ensure that this descent into the darkest side of human beings does not affect their personal lives.

Author Biography:

Noelia Lorenzo Pino (IrĂșn, 1978) is a dressmaking teacher by training. Her professional career is linked to the world of fashion until she published Chamusquina, her first novel, in 2013. Two years later, La sirena roja (Erein, 2015) was published, in which she introduces us to the Ertzaintza couple Chassereau-Macua, who star in four more novels: La chica olvidada (Erein, 2016), Corazones negros (Erein, 2018), La estrella de quincepuntas (Erein, 2020) and Animales heridados (Travel Bug, 2021).

Corazonesnegros won the Cubelles Noir Prize for the best crime novel published that year, and Animales heridados won the Alicante Noir Prize. Noelia has also been a finalist with her works at the Tenerife Noir festival and at Salamanca Negra, as well as winning awards such as the Novelpol Prizes, the Tormo Negro Prizes, the Euskadi Literature Prizes and the prestigious Dashiell Hammett Prize, which is awarded at the Semana Negra in GijĂłn.

With Blanco inmaculado (Plaza & Janés, 2022) he inaugurated a new series, with inspectors Lur and Maddi as protagonists, which now continues with Purasangre.

In addition to crime novels, she writes children’s literature. She has published four stories in the collection Ane eta Moon, written in Basque.
