The tragic mentality
Robert D. Kaplan

Tragedy defines the limits of human nature and world events.

After a long experience as an international journalist, war correspondent and influential advisor to high-ranking American organizations, Robert D. Kaplan is convinced that more than geopolitical knowledge is needed to understand how individuals act and how rulers decide. For him, the keys to understanding the human spirit and the ins and outs of international politics are given to us by tragedy. At their best, Shakespeare and the Greek tragics show us, among many other things, the unpredictable consequences of difficult decisions, the confrontation between order and chaos, coexistence with fear and the constant struggle that determines the destiny of people. .

A short work but extraordinarily rich in ideas and proposals, The Tragic Mentality is a profound reflection on political tragedy made from first-person experience to which knowledge of the classics is added.
