Do crystals really have healing properties? Perhaps this is the question that even those of us who are most interested in the subject, those of us who have been collecting minerals for years like me, ask ourselves, but right now, at the beginning of September and when I am going back to work, I would give anything to find some of them that would make my return to work more bearable.

Perhaps the book of Carolina Buffoni can help us. The power of vibration This is a detailed guide to 100 crystals arranged alphabetically, which gives us a list of their most technical characteristics (hardness, colour, chemical composition, geological process, crystalline process and main deposits) and spiritual characteristics (chakra, element and astrological associations) together with a brief explanation of their history, energetic properties and tips for use. In addition, as a gift, each crystal displayed here comes with an affirmation.

I found it quite complete. It is a full color bookwith photographs of the crystals she talks about and some introductory pages that help us to bring down to earth more ambiguous concepts such as that of energetic properties. Carolina Buffoni decides to talk to us, for example, about the geological origin of crystals, how to identify crystals according to their color, streak, shine, exfoliation, fracture, hardness, transparency, luminescence or habit, and what the crystalline systems are. In other words, she does not talk about magic, but about facts, although within these facts we find the energy and vibration of which the universe itself is composed. There are things that we cannot ignore and that Buffoni reminds us of in this book: The Earth has its own magnetic field. So it is not so far-fetched to also attribute some energy to the minerals that, after all, are created in it.

It also gives us a few tips on how to work with crystals, how to choose them, how to clean them, how to charge them… (be careful, because I spent some time cleaning all my crystals with water and some have a lower hardness and you can charge them). And, after about 80 pages, the description of the 100 crystals chosen for the occasion begins. Some of them are: agates of various types, angelite, aragonite, calcite, kyanite, quartz (when I put it in plural I mean that it touches several typologies of that family), emerald, hematite, jade, jasper, malachite, tiger’s eye, sunstone, pyrite, desert rose, selenite, shungite, sodalite, tourmalines and one that I had never heard of, xylopal (which is petrified wood).

Almost all the minerals that it includes are known to those of us who follow this topic, but I think some of them may surprise us, so it is quite balanced. And something curious that I would like to say before finishing is that I have the feeling that when I open a manual of crystals, the properties between them seem to overlap. And this is probably so because many share characteristics, but sometimes it seems like a copy and paste by the author (sometimes, you even find the text as is on Google). Carolina Buffoni in The power of vibration It is quite different from each other and there are few similarities, so It gives me more confidence and I believe this book more than others I have read..

Do crystals really have healing properties? We will have to explore books like The power of vibration by Carolina Buffoni to give us an idea (and satisfy our curiosity or simply admire beautiful stones in photography, which is also very pleasant 😜).
