The fog of memories
by Antonio Ulled

Friendship, love, distance, the passing of time. Painting, the art of painting, the value of what is painted, the need to copy. Ambition, greed, evil, hatred. A hopeful Spain, a Spain at war, a bleeding Spain, a Spain once again hopeful. From the first pages it will be like going back in time, to the noise of the streets, the voices of the people, the details of the cities, the buildings and the rooms. The intertwined lives of some copyists at the Prado Museum, the story of an incredible plan for the protection of works of art in museums in 1914, the first meeting of three friends, the love between an American colonel and an English copyist, the events of a hasty trip during the days of the 1936 uprising, the unfortunate death of some teachers. In between, a robbery takes place that seems impossible, a robbery in the middle of the Spanish civil war. The Fog of Memories is also about chance, about the serendipity that happens to us all, about the memories of others and your own, about the puzzle of life. All this and much more defines this work that deserves to be read from beginning to end, although when the reader thinks he has reached the end, he will discover that he is only at the beginning.

Antonio Ulled He is an architect and has enjoyed being one for more than thirty years, designing and directing building projects in Spain, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Egypt, the Emirates and other Arab countries. Professionally, he has written articles, given lectures and collaborated in publications, but he also wrote two books on architecture that were presented at international conferences in Lima and Santo Domingo. Although he had always liked writing stories, when he retired, he began to write regularly, not being aware at first that he was pouring many ideas and scenes thought up over years into a larger volume, which ended up being his first novel, which he finally titled LA NIEBLA DE LOS RECUERDOS. Nobody knows which is the destination station where they have to get off the train of life, but, until that time comes, he says that he will continue reading, creating and writing stories.
