Solas
by Javier Diez Carmona
After Justicia, Javier Díez Carmona returns with a thriller set in the most isolated and wild Basque Country.
A story of secrets, disappearances and depravity.
Agurtzane Loizaga, a professor at the University of Bilbao, recently moved with her partner to a farmhouse in the Las Encartaciones region. They thought they were happy in this isolated farmhouse until, overnight, her girlfriend disappeared. Although the police downplay the situation, a series of clues lead them to suspect that her departure was not voluntary.
Osmany Arechabala has been living in Bilbao for months, far from his native Cuba, when an old friend asks him for help in finding his daughter. There has been no news of him since he left the house of the elderly women he was caring for in a small town in Las Encartaciones. Osmany, accompanied by Nekane Gordobil, a non-commissioned officer of the Ertzaintza on sick leave, decides to accept the assignment without being aware of the dimensions of his endeavour.
With a sublime atmosphere, this novel takes us to the rugged heart of the Basque Country to tell us a story of crimes, hidden vices and a past that refuses to disappear.
