Press release

Buenos Aires, March 2021. In Fantasmas Voraces, her first novel, Eugenia García ventures into a political and intimate thriller that speaks from human nature and corruption, from unease, but without completely annulling a last-minute romanticism. The mix is rather suggestive with a very uncomplimentary ending.

A politician accused of corruption hides from the media in a small provincial town, where he spent his summers as a child. There he will face his friends from back then and the ideals lost along the path of life. At the same time, a young journalist reluctantly becomes involved in an investigation to unravel the death of a lawyer with unclear ties.

From the central character, Arsenio is a person with defects, but seductive at the same time. He knows how to look and gives his voice to the characters that accompany him.

It is worth highlighting the figure of Tante Therese, the endearing aunt who speaks and loves through her silences.

The portrait of the town is very convincing (and instantaneous in its evocation): that somewhat decayed, emptied atmosphere, but which accepts more colors (and tensions and crimes) than one might anticipate by looking only at the “first postcard.”

Eugenia lives in Buenos Aires. She graduated as a lawyer and for several years worked as a consultant for companies. Over time, she distanced herself from this activity, completed a Master’s degree in Social Anthropology and returned to her two passions: painting and writing. She worked for an NGO dedicated to public policies.
