One of these days
Max Römer Pieretti
Kálathos editions expands its “Prima materia” collection
A hospital patient calls a telephone switchboard to try to get his prayers to reach heaven, a man – a reflection of the author – says goodbye to his books before closing the door of his house for the last time, a girl cries on the plane that will take her and her parents to embark on a new journey in another country. In One of These Days, the new book from Kálathos editions in Spain, Max Römer Pieretti offers glimpses of his daily life.
The work is an intimate, familiar, almost anecdotal book, which introduces us to the universe of its author through a collection of short stories, reflective texts and minimal stories that function, as a whole, as a life log.
“A Day of These is a story of my own life in text postcards. They are stories that weave together the days, any day, one of these days or another that has already passed. The reader will find humor, adventures and misadventures, spaces and times, pain, love, family,” explains Römer Pieretti, PhD in Information Sciences-Journalism from the University of La Laguna in Tenerife (Spain) and graduate in Audiovisual Communication from the Andrés Bello Catholic University in Caracas (Venezuela).
The book is divided into 10 thematic chapters: “Stop feeling”, “Of dreams and nightmares”, “Of those days”, “To the family”, “Look at the compass and head towards other latitudes”, “Those days in us”, “The days with my wife”, “Days of mischief”, “Days of telling each other, of carrying each other, of tiredness. These days” and “The other days, those of others”.
One of these days is the third title in the “Prima materia” collection with which Kálathos editions aims to promote new Spanish-speaking authors. The collection began in 2020 with El Francés y otros relatos, by the Peruvian Borja Goyenechea, and continued with the novel En las sombras del bien, by the Venezuelan Asdrúbal Romero.
