Axel
by Luis Garcia-Rey
The explosive publishing debut of the author who will become one of your favorites
«Long live the new king of crime fiction. Luis García-Rey wins us over with a story of drugs, power, sex and rock and roll», Juan del Val.
Wednesday, March 13, 2019. The judicial police agent Axel Nash is not capable of taking life calmly and, if there are no cases to solve, he is bored to death. It is not in vain that he left his native Vigo to look for more action in Madrid. One morning he receives a call from his new partner, Loor Galván, whom he barely knows, but with whom, surprisingly, he connects: Marcos Goya, a radio presenter of a night program, has just appeared in a cheap dating hotel, stabbed to death and with apparent remains of having been tortured.
Meanwhile in Vigo, Omar Pombo and his friend Javier Grande, Jarvis, who, like many other young people from the Rías Baixas, have ended up dealing for drug trafficking, have just gotten into a huge mess: they have lost a shipment and the consequences are predictable. And they are not good.
A world with characters who are too attached to the power – and vices – of big business, human trafficking and prostitution, drug trafficking, lots of cinema and lots of music in two perfectly linked plots, with masterful twists and two unforgettable protagonists: that and more is Axel, the narrative debut of journalist Luis García-Rey.
Luis García-Rey was born in Vigo in 1981 and has worked as a television journalist, presenting the weekend edition of Deportes Cuatro for over a decade. His voice can also be heard at night on COPE’s Partidazo. He also directs the Master’s in Sports Journalism at Villanueva University. Axel is his first novel.
