There goes the definition of the word, first of all: “Malismo” is a term coined by the author of this book, the comic artist (in addition to musician, screenwriter and theatrical author, radio gathering, but of those who cool, and pertinaz tweeter Bluitero) Mauro Entrialgo, in opposition to the manido “goodism”, so taste of certain political sectors. In other words, as the subtitle of the book says, Malismo would be the ostentation of evil as propaganda. Or, to put it in a more complete way -it is also a definition of the author, not mine – The propaganda mechanism consisting of the public ostentation of actions or desires traditionally reprehensible in order to achieve a social, electoral or commercial benefit (I would have called it directly “sonputism”, but it is clear that Mauro Entrialgo is a better person than he writes).

With a more enjoyable style and that oscillates between the careful syntactic and semantic correction, and the use of expressions and terms more at street level, so to speak, Entrialgo is rewarding us the vision that he has of this unusual circumstance: the fact that, today, the attitudes and actions considered, not long ago, as harmful and even exemporable not only are they not only condemned, but also applause and the accession of a good amount of audiences, whether citizens who vote, followers of this or that artist or even clients who leave the money in certain establishments or companies even if they treat them Like the ass With excessive confidence, which, as the saying goes, disgusts …

The book is divided into quite short chapters that study, with profusion of examples and even personal anecdotes, different aspects of this phenomenon; From the most harmless, such as the fashion of putting the hospitality premises bad names that would before be reserved for the most infectious garitos (and only as nicknames), to the most serious for society, as it turns outfor examplewhat the state of Israel does-, knowing that not only will it have any invoice, but there will always be those who applaud them. Between half, examples of different severity and scope, such as using the name of a well -known terrorist as electoral slogan against the political adversary, boasting of the crimes committed, either in social networks or in presentations of books between friends, or convene demonstrations against common sense and public health in full worldwide pandemic. By the way, the chapter that has been more fun (also worrisome, of course) is the one dedicated to that contemporary crossing between the extreme right more malista (it is worth the redundancy) and the conspiracy, anti -vacacons and magufos of all kinds; That is, what the author, in another of his terminological findings calls the “Nazis of the mystery.”

Leaving aside the themes of other chapters such as the rise of personal malistas in audiovisual fiction products or the impudent exhibition of little edifying attitudes, in the religious sphere, both within the Catholic Church and on the expansive cultures cultures, (commonly known by evangelicals), the crux of the book focuses on the evolution that has suffered communication, politics and of all kinds. In general, for, in the course of just a decade, these behaviors and attitudes have gone from being hidden or, at least, the object of apologies, to be claimed without any shame and even proud … and it is not that Mauro Entrialgo is a tiquismiquis in this regard; In fact, he is the founder of the already legendary Gasteizarra Magazine of Tmeo Humor, which is not characterized, precisely by a fine and diplomatic humor and, in addition, creator of a rather “malista” character (although he pales compared to the current standards), the reporter Herminio Bolaxtra. Precisely, in the epilogue of the book he dedicates him to explain why he has decided to stop drawing this character).

To conclude, we can say that the book, if not a very biased essay -the author himself calls him Opusculus -, it is a good approach to a booming phenomenon, unfortunately, at this time. It is true that the many examples that appear refer mostly to characters and events that occurred in Spain, which can make understanding for those who read the book from other latitudes, if the case is given, but they also appear, of course, picturesque international representatives of evil, such as Bolsonaro, Milei or its epitome in this 21st century, Donald Trump … (with permission, of course, of course, of course, he Putin).
