EXTRACTS OF THE WORK
Letter 0. Hello world «Dear human being:
It is possible that you feel a bit alien reading a letter that is not sent by whoever guards your money or your vote, the penultimate epistolary strongholds. I understand the strangeness of this ancient ritual that tacitly exudes a commitment to response. Fortunately for you, I don’t expect it. This letter is but the first of many that, in reality, are addressed to a being from another planet, in order to explain the fascination that ours exudes. It is also an explanatory act for aliens, because if they are able to read these letters, they have most likely had news from Earth. In a literal sense. And it is my obligation as a journalist to clarify some headlines that are more loaded with poetry than science. Some of them, from my own harvest. We have the privilege of being able to forcefully maintain that here “the whales sing jazz”; that “there are imaginary cats that are alive and dead at the same time”; that “time is better made by the sea”, or that “all bananas are the same”, while “the planet is running out of sand and shine”.
I present to you a statement of defense in the form of correspondence, not an instruction manual for the Earth and humanity. […] »
«These letters are not a history of all those bricks of knowledge and scientific thought, although some will appear. This correspondence with others is a small act of voyeurism between everyday findings that allow us to explain what we do here, shaping an entire planet through an apparently ordered set of knowledge obtained by observation and reasoning, from which principles and laws are deduced. general. And, of course, an opportunity to provide a soundtrack to one’s own life experience. After all, our best historical attempt to convey a summary of humanity has been on disk. That one lacked, of course, the base passions that make us truly human and lead us to write an angry letter that, as happened to Galileo, is basically summarized in two words: “I told you so.”»
