Marranadas It is the short novel with which, in 1996, French writer Marie Darrieussecq debuted at 26. It tells a transgressive and provocative story, given its reflections on the human being, the treatment that society dispenses with women and female desire. Even today it can cause some discomfort, and its sexual content, almost pornographic, will stomach the less seasoned readers.
In Marranadas We follow the steps of a beautiful young woman who becomes sow as men objectify and take advantage of her body or naivety. Therefore, this novel can be interpreted as fantastic literature that shows an authentic metamorphosis or as a political metaphor, not necessarily subtle but correctly articulated.
The first person narrative voice has a lot of strength, although in my opinion I could have acquired more likelihood. After all, it does not convince me that the protagonist has as few studies as he says, given the way he presents certain sentences and ideas.
As for the argument, I would say that in general it flows properly and transmits its reflections with thematic precision. However, at times it is somewhat repetitive.
Summarizing: Marranadas It is a novel with a bold subtext, a powerful narrative voice and a well -developed argument. Even so, I think some of their sections could have been polished. Be that as it may, it is still the debut of its author, so this irregularity is easily forgive.
