Review of the book «Mujercísimas» by Terenci Moix.

«Mujercísimas» is a literary work that addresses feminism from a humorous perspective. It was published in 1975 by the Spanish writer Terenci Moix, and has become a classic of feminist and LGTBIQ+ literature in Spain.

The novel is a series of short stories, some of them autobiographical, that talk about the lives of women in different times, places and circumstances. In each story, Moix uses her acidic and ironic humor to ridicule society’s stereotypes and prejudices regarding the role of women in social and working life.

The work, from its title, is presented as a vindication of femininity in its maximum expression, something that, in patriarchal society, is usually seen as something negative or derogatory. With «Mujercísimas», Terenci Moix defends the freedom of women to be as they wish to be, without ties or conditions.

The book is a tribute to diversity and sexual freedom. In some of the stories, Moix talks about his own experience as a gay man, and describes the intolerance and discrimination he has suffered in his life. The novel thus becomes a defence not only of women, but also of all people who have been discriminated against for their sexual orientation.

One of the strong points of «Mujercísimas» is the way it addresses the topic of feminism. Instead of doing so in a serious and transcendental way, Moix does so through humor and satire. This does not mean that the book does not have a serious and vindictive message, but quite the opposite: humor is a way of getting that message across to more people, and doing so in an entertaining and attractive way.

The novel also stands out for its literary style, in which Moix demonstrates his ability to create complex and credible characters, with direct and simple language. In addition, the stories have a fast pace that makes reading very enjoyable and entertaining.

In short, «Mujercísimas» is a fundamental work to understand feminism in Spain. Terenci Moix manages to create a book that, without losing its vindictive message, is fun and enjoyable to read. The novel is a defense of diversity and sexual freedom, and becomes a tribute to all women who have fought for their rights throughout history. Without a doubt, a work that is worth reading and spreading.
