It is the 10th century in the Iberian Peninsula. These are times of disloyalty and wars in the Christian kingdoms, dedicated in turn to the reconquest against the Arabs, whose dominions seem increasingly powerful. And the survival of the kingdom of León is threatened by the powerful Qurtuba caliphate of Abd al-Rahman III.
Faced with the obvious military inferiority of his armies, King Ramiro II places his hopes on a legendary object cited in ancient documents; only that could grant him the power of victory. The monk Julián and Alvar Laínez, son of the Count of Aquilare, will be in charge of finding it. To do this they must travel all the Hispanic lands, and on their travels they will discover friendship and even love; But they will be harassed, betrayed and coerced, since there are many who, even in the king’s own court, do not view his mission favorably. Death pursues them insistently… and their main objective will be to survive.
